Title or Location: "Macaroon"
I painted this picture for my sister Andrea. We love to bake and I've always called those little French cookies "Macaroons" and my sister would correct me each time saying, "It's not Macaroon, it's Macaron"

This painting was a study for the Oceans and Beaches module with Acrylic University, based on a painting demo by Joe Gyurcsak. My first attempt at painting boats! I learned a lot about light, shadows, and painting the ocean to represent movement and waves.

Title or Location: Diver Restored
This piece was painted to honor the craft of mechanical watches, which has survived for centuries and even through the digital and A.I. age. This design was based on the 1953 Blancpain 50 Fathoms, the first diver's watch. I wanted to capture the spirit of the design, as it is brought to original specs and into the sea environment for which it was engineered. The depiction of light through fluid, and the refraction and distortion of solidity, was a technical challenge that I happily explored.

Title or Location: in a not so secret garden
Our daughter Shawn was visiting from Los Angeles which she calls home these days. We have a garden of a sort in our front yard and Shawn was looking over some of the plant life wearing a black broad brimmed hat and a long matching dress. I ran inside our house to grab my old camera and asked her to not move for a few seconds. The dappled light in the front yard completed the composition. There is a small 12x12 that Shawn took back to LA and this 20x20 version. This was featured in the Mn State F
