The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.

This meet-up will explore how we can take beautiful portraits using natural light and backgrounds. We will explore how to recognise flattering light and how to manipulate it whilst shooting in a less controlled environment than a studio. We will explore how we can work collaboratively with our subject to achieve a portrait that captures their personality and style. We will also look at posing and setting your subject at ease. Technical learning points will include accurate focusing and metering for skin tones.

Come along to our meetups to improve your art in a relaxed and social atmosphere, and under the guidance of a professional instructor. Complete beginners to experienced artists all welcome.

Our 2 hour meetups are held in a different location each time, usually outdoors.

Bring your own materials which can be anything from pencils or pastels, to watercolour or oils.

If you are a complete beginner all you need to start are a couple of good drawing pencils, a rubber, and a drawing pad.

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to experienced artists. The instructor is there to help everyone.

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

The ?Buffalo? (32?x32?) is one of many bottle cap art tables I have created. This piece took well over 60 hours to create. Each bottle cap was cut, if necessary, to create the image and then covered with epoxy to make a smooth table top. .

I grew up in a small town in rural Vermont before moving to WNY 10 years ago. There was a local sheep farm and I always loved watching them as a kid. I drew this picture with that as an inspiration. I also love the high contrast charcoal brings to the curls.

Greetings, An oil 24x48 , done in 1998, it was loaned to Club Med - Eleuthera BahamasClub Med, a once-upscale resort located on the beach originally called French Leave in the 1960s, was unfortunately damaged by Hurricane Floyd in 1999 and was never rebuilt. Although some structures remain, the site has not been fully restored. And my painting was lost. I was luck that a jpeg scan was done in Rochester, NY before that time ....
